Fire Doors
Fire Doors in India: Reliable Fire Protection for Commercial, Industrial & Residential Buildings

When it comes to building fire safety, preventing the spread of fire and smoke is just as important as detecting and extinguishing a fire. Fire doors are a vital part of passive fire protection because they help separate different areas of a building and can provide valuable time for evacuation and emergency response.

Runfire & Security Systems, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, supplies a wide range of fire-rated doors and fire door solutions across India for industrial facilities, commercial buildings, offices, hospitals, schools, hotels, warehouses, residential projects and other applications.

Whether you need a steel fire door, double-leaf fire door, single-leaf fire door, glazed fire door, insulated fire door, non-insulated fire door, emergency exit fire door or customized fire-rated door, we can help you select a suitable solution according to your project requirements.

What Is a Fire Door?

A fire door is a specially designed door assembly intended to resist fire exposure for a specified period and help restrict the movement of flames, hot gases and smoke between protected areas.

A proper fire door is more than just a heavy or metal shutter. The complete doorset may include:

Fire-rated door leaf
Fire-rated frame
Hinges
Door closer
Latching arrangement
Intumescent seals
Smoke seals, where applicable
Vision panel/fire-resistant glazing, where specified
Panic or exit hardware, where required
Other compatible fire-rated hardware

The performance of the complete assembly is therefore important when selecting a fire door.

Types of Fire Doors We Promote

At Runfire & Security Systems, we can offer different fire door configurations according to application, opening size, building design and required fire-resistance rating.

1. Single Leaf Fire Door

Single-leaf fire doors are suitable for individual rooms, utility areas, electrical rooms, service areas, corridors and other locations where a single-door opening is appropriate.

2. Double Leaf Fire Door

Double-leaf fire doors are designed for wider openings where a single shutter is not practical. They can be used in industrial buildings, warehouses, commercial facilities, plant rooms and other large openings.

3. Steel Fire Door

Steel fire doors are widely used where durability, strength and fire protection are important. They are suitable for industrial plants, factories, warehouses, commercial buildings, electrical rooms and service areas.

4. Insulated Fire Door

Insulated fire doors incorporate fire-resistant insulating construction to help control heat transfer in addition to maintaining fire integrity. They can be particularly useful for protected escape routes and other applications where temperature control is an important consideration.

5. Non-Insulated Fire Door

Non-insulated fire doors are designed for applications where the required performance primarily focuses on fire integrity rather than insulation. The correct specification should always be selected according to the building design and applicable requirements.

6. Glazed Fire Door

Glazed or vision-panel fire doors can provide visibility while maintaining the required fire-resistant performance when suitable tested fire-resistant glazing and compatible framing are used.

7. Emergency Exit Fire Door

Emergency and exit doors are designed to support safe movement of occupants during an emergency. Suitable exit hardware, door closers and other accessories can be incorporated depending on the application.

8. Fire-Rated Door for Electrical & Utility Rooms

Electrical rooms, generator areas, transformer rooms, plant rooms and service areas may require suitable fire-rated doors as part of the overall fire-compartmentation strategy.

9. Customized Fire Door

Projects often have different wall thicknesses, opening dimensions, hardware requirements and architectural needs. Customized fire-door solutions can be considered according to project specifications and the applicable tested/certified configuration.

Understanding Fire Door Ratings

Fire doors are commonly identified by their fire-resistance rating. Depending on the applicable product classification and certification, ratings can include:

FD30 – 30 minutes
FD60 – 60 minutes
FD90 – 90 minutes
FD120 – 120 minutes
FD180 – 180 minutes

BIS documentation for IS 3614:2021 lists metallic hinged doors, wooden composite hinged doors, metallic sliding doors and metallic rolling shutters with specified fire-rating classifications.

The required rating should not simply be selected based on preference. It should be determined according to the building's fire strategy, occupancy, compartmentation, applicable regulations, project specifications and required certification
